Free water, food, shelter, and support across Vernon —
for anyone who needs it, no questions asked.
A person needs at least two litres of clean water every day — more in summer heat when dehydration sets in fast.
The body survives roughly three days without water. In extreme heat, that window shrinks to hours.
Every fountain on this list is completely free. Bring a bottle — or ask a staff member for one. No conditions.
Some park washrooms close after dark. The emergency shelter at Turning Points never closes its doors.
"A washroom is not a luxury. Without one, simple things — staying clean, taking medicine, looking for work — become a daily battle. Knowing where the nearest tap is can change a person's whole afternoon."
Six locations across Vernon where you can drink, refill, and cool down — at no cost.
Seven locations with accessible washrooms throughout Vernon.
⚠ Most park washrooms operate April to October. Some close after dark — Bus Exchange and shelter washrooms stay open longer.
No questions asked. No conditions. Just food and support.
Safe, free, always open — no one turned away.
You don't need to be in crisis to call. These lines are free, confidential, and here to help you find what you need — on your terms.

Invisible Thirst is a student project created as part of Climate Action Ripple Effect (CARE) — a program that empowers Grade 6–12 students across Vernon and the Central Okanagan to create real-world climate solutions in their communities.
This guide maps free water stations, washrooms, food programs, and emergency supports across Vernon so that anyone — regardless of circumstance — can quickly find what they need. The guide exists both as this website and as a foldable printed pamphlet that can be left wherever it might help.
CARE is delivered through Fresh Outlook Foundation in partnership with School District 22 and the City of Vernon.
